Typography Module 9th Session

We've been playing with layouts today. A rather strange session, yet an interesting one.
Using Quark Express's shape tool, we ''painted'' layouts based on words.
Here we have an intense layout.
I chose to use black, and changed the opacity to give it a slight range. I also chose to lay my boxes horizontally and vertically.

The next word was 'relaxed'. I chose to use a pastel blue to represent this feeling. I felt as though the shapes I make should be horizontally, so they seem as though they're laying down. Vertical rectangular shapes are very upright and alert.

The final task of the session was to use coloured type to create hierarchy. To be honest I didn't completely understand what we were doing, but I went along with it anyway. Doing this only went poo for me as Graham decided to pick on me! :( Ah well. All done now! Time to get on with some real work!
