Wants/don't wants

We have been asked to write a minimum of 5 statements briefly explaining what we want and don't want to do;

What do I want?

  • I want to put together a strong, well-presented and professional portfolio, which powerfully represents my personality and design skills/capabilities. To enable myself to do this I need to attend crits which will allow myself to gather feedback from fellow peers and lecturers.
  • I want to attain at the very least a 2:1 for my overall degree grade. I will need to work a lot harder, make fast and appropriate design decisions, and will put in that extra bit of commitment which will be shown by coming into college on non-timetabled days.
  • I want to broaden my knowledge of the design industry. I need to continue contacting design agencies, enter more competitions and accept any placement opportunities.
  • I want to write a strong dissertation from which I want at least 60%. I need to seek learning support and take advantage of any other available help.
  • I want to have more than enough time to produce/create a well-executed outcome. I need to write more action plans, which will help me manage my time better.
What don't I want?

  • I don't want to work within website design as I find Adobe Dreamweaver too challenging and confusing.
  • I don't want to use illustration within my work as I am never happy with the outcomes therefore making me less confident when showing people work I've produced.
  • I don't want to create characters or work within animation/motion graphics as I'm quite impatient, and generally do not see my future within this field of work.
  • I don't want to be a freelance designer as I feel I need to motivation from others to keep working.
  • I don't want to work 9am-9pm everyday. I want to be able to leave at a decent house and have ''me'' time with a clear mind.
